Open University of Applied Sciences students can study in the group of degree programme students according to timetables. Only practical training and vocational education students couldn’t study in the Open University of Applied Sciences.

Student can take single study unit or study module. The studies consist of contact teaching and independent study. An ECTS credit is a measure of the scope of studies. Study units are allotted credits according to the amount of work they require. One ECTS credit means 27 hour workload.
Virtual studies are also available. In addition there are also studies in Finnish, which take place in the evenings, during the weekends and in the summertime.
Each completed study unit for each student in the Open University of Applied Sciences is registered in the record of transcripts in the school involved. Student will be given a transcript of the study units she/he has completed.
