Arrival in Finland and Rovaniemi
The student is responsible for all the flight arrangements and travel expenses. The easiest way to come to Rovaniemi is to fly to Helsinki-Vantaa airport and take a connection flight to Rovaniemi. You can also take a train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi, but the trip takes 10-12 hours.
RAMK arranges a free pick up from the Rovaniemi airport or railway station, if you arrive on Saturday 19 May or Sunday 20 May 2012. The student tutors meet you at the airport or railway station and take you to the dormitory by taxi.
If you arrive outside the pickup times, please take a taxi to the dormitory (address Väylätie 60). The student tutors will meet you there with your room key, let you into your room and show you the facilities and surroundings of the dormitory.
Free time activities in Rovaniemi and Pori
Rovaniemi is a summer city. The Midnight sun shines from the beginning of June to the beginning of July. This is the time for dance, music and blossoming. The midnight Sun river valley landscape viewed from the summit of Ounasvaara is breathtaking. You can take a riverboat safari, go to the Arctic Circle, play football, play golf etc.
Pori is a coastal town, and here’s a gorgeous beach, called Yyteri Beach, it is a sight in itself. If you like sports, there are e.g. American football-games, Finnish version of the baseball etc. There’s lot of happenings going on during the whole summer.
There are also possibilities to participate in some outdoor and hobby activities with modest costs during the intensive period. There’s lot of activities to do in both cities, in Rovaniemi and Pori.
Departure from Pori
The programme ends on Friday 15 June at noon, so the participants can leave Pori the same day or next day.
The easiest way from Pori to Helsinki is to take a bus. In this case, it might be best to book seats.
You can also take a flight from Pori (via Helsinki) back to your home country, or where ever you wish to go.
Visa for Russia excursion
You need a visa to go to Russia and for that we will provide you the letter of reference with which you can apply for a visa in your own country. For that reference letter we need the following information: your name, nationality, date of birth, passport number, passport validity name of authority and place granting the passport.
