Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences

The venue during 21 May – 1 June 2012 will be Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences (RAMK). It is the northernmost higher professional education institution in the European Union, located in the city of Rovaniemi on the Arctic Circle in Lapland Province in Finland. Rovaniemi is a busy city and an international tourist site.

RAMK has about 3.000 students studying in 18 Bachelor’s and 3 Master’s Degree Programmes. RAMK offers many fields of study: Business and Administration, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Forestry and Rural Industries, Technology, Health Care and Social Services, and Sports and Leisure. Studying and teaching make good use of the learning environments offered by nature in the North.

Three degree programmes and one specialisation programme are offered entirely in English. RAMK’s points of operation form three campuses, which are located near the centre of city. All of our student services and student housing are also close by. There are annually some 300 international students studying at Rovaniemi University of Applied Sciences.

Satakunta University of Applied Sciences

The venue during 2 – 15 June 2012 is the Pori Campus of Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK). Pori, with its 82.000 inhabitants, is the capital of the Satakunta region in Western Finland.

There are 6.500 students at SAMK studying in 25 Bachelor’s and 8 Master’s Programmes in the various fields of Business, Tourism and Culture, Fine Arts, Health Care and Social Services, and Technology and Maritime Management. Four Bachelor Prgrammes and one Master Degree Programme are taught fully in English. There are also English taught modules in various other degree programmes facilitating the partner universities to send students to exchange periods, from 3 to 10 months.

There are annually about 250 foreign students studying at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. International students come either to Pori, Rauma or Kankaanpää campus.

The city of Pori was founded on the mouth of the Kokemäenjoki river in 1558. Traditionally an industrial and port city, it has rapidly transformed itself into a city of students. Its strong ties to culture have kept the city vigorous for centuries.
